Virginia Commonwealth University’s International Partnership with Beijing Foreign Studies University officially began in December 2005 when the two universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding. BFSU has hosted VCU mass communications students for summer programs and is invited to join in VCU’s American Studies Summer Program. In February 2005, John Herman, Ph.D., associate professor in VCU’s Department of History, was named director of the VCU-BFSU Partnership and director of VCU-China Relations.
