Virginia Commonwealth University’s International Partnership with the University of São Paulo began in September 2006 when the two universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding. In November 2006, Nicholas Farell, Ph.D., chair of VCU’s Department of Chemistry, was named director of the VCU-USP Partnership. Delegations of faculty and administrators have visited each other’s campuses and are in the process of organizing faculty and student exchange programs, as well as joint research initiatives, within the partnership.
