Mandatory insurance

Students in snowAll international students are required to have accident and sickness insurance which covers the cost of hospitalization during their stay in the U.S., where hospital costs can be quite expensive.

Brochures and applications for the plan endorsed by VCU, the Global Education Office and the University Student Health Services will be available at the new student orientation and in the international student adviser’s office. Please do not purchase any health and accident insurance plan from outside the U.S. Most likely, these policies are not accepted at American hospitals or by U.S. physicians. The cost of medical insurance has been figured into the cost of attending VCU for one year; therefore, it is expected that you will be able to sign up for medical insurance at the new student orientation.
