Mandatory insurance
According to federal regulation 22 C.F.R section 62.14 governing the Exchange Visitor Program, all exchange visitors and dependents must have health/accident insurance coverage that includes repatriation costs for remains and medical evacuation coverage during their stay in the U.S.
Under these regulations, VCU is not required to pay for the insurance coverage, but must ensure that the visitor and all accompanying dependents have valid coverage in the U.S.
