Transferring
If you are transferring your J-1 exchange visitor program sponsorship to VCU from another U.S. program, the accepting VCU department must first complete the J-1 sponsorship information form ![[PDF]](../../../images/layout/icon-pdf.gif){kind=icon}

We will need this information, as well as contact information for your current J-1 program responsible officer (RO) or alternate responsible officer (ARO), so that we may coordinate the transfer from the current institution to VCU. The transfer dates and program information must be exact, understood and agreed upon by both institutions.
As the J-1 exchange visitor, you must report to VCU (the transfer-in institution) within 30 days of your transfer date so that we can validate your program and presence at VCU. If you do not, your record will automatically terminate and you will fall out of legal status in the U.S.
