GEO International Student Photo Contest 2011
Who
The GEO photo contest is open to all international students currently enrolled at VCU.
Deadline
The deadline for submissions is December 10, 2011. All photos will be posted to the GEO Facebook page (VCU Global) after December 10, 2011.
To Win
Winners will be selected by how many "likes" a photo gets. Make sure to get all of your friends and family to vote for your photos!
To vote for a photo, simply go to the 2011 Photo Competition album on our Facebook page (VCU Global) and click the "Like" button for each photo you wish to vote for. Remember: In order to vote, you will need to be sure to like the VCU Global Facebook page first. Reminder: photos will not be on the facebook page until after Dec. 10.
Winners will be announced and prizes will be awarded in January.
Prizes
1st place: $15 gift card to Bodillaz Quesadillas, 1 free sub at Jersey Mikes, VCU Rams bookbag, VCU alumni travel mug, VCU pin-up, VCU stickers
2nd place: $10 gift card to City Dogs, 1 free sub at Jersey Mikes, VCU Rams bookbag, VCU alumni travel mug, VCU pin-up, VCU stickers
3rd place: Three free subs at Jersey Mikes, VCU Rams bookbag, VCU alumni travel mug, VCU pin-up, VCU stickers
4th place: Two free subs at Jersey Mikes, VCU Rams bookbag, VCU alumni travel mug, VCU pin-up, VCU stickers
Photo guidelines
There are four categories. There will be one winner in each category (4 total winners)
The categories are:
- Academic-photograph students in an academic setting at VCU
- People-capture images of students interacting with local populations in the Richmond area
- Places-include a landmark or landscape that is clearly identifiable as something in the Richmond area or United States where you have travelled.
- Other-Miscellaneous photos.
Submissions
You are allowed 2 submissions per category (8 total photos per person)
Send submissions by email to leburgess@vcu.edu (Lane Burgess)
Send in digital format with the subject line "2011 photo contest submission."
Save the file as "first name_last name_category"
(For example- John_Smith_Places.jpg )
In the body of the email, please include your name, what country you are from, and a short (less than 500 words) description of your photo.
*All suitable submissions may be posted on the GEO facebook page or GEO web site, and by submitting an entry, you are granting permission to post your photo online. By submitting your photographic image to this contest, you are agreeing to let Virginia Commonwealth University and the Global Education Office use your photo on their website and for other publicity purposes.
